Children's Mercy Official Explains Benefits, Barriers of Telehealth for Children

When it comes to children, there is nothing more important to a parent than health and safety. Sandra Lawrence, executive vice president and chief financial officer for Children's Mercy, breaks down the important benefits of telehealth services in schools. With video conferencing ability and Google Fiber speed, school nurses can address student ailments without parents having to leave work and take their children to the doctor's office.

With a proper reimbursement model, doctor's can provide more telehealth services to schools and institutions within a 50 mile radius of their hospital or facility. Taking away barriers like this one can stimulate the growth of telehealth services and continue to modernize and expand American healthcare.
